5e2985542f merge: sync Rongsong's scheduler-framework (88 commits, f01ae353..c5b172c7)
Two-sided divergence from f01ae353 (2026-08-30): theirs +88 (worker
rejoin-resync reconciliation, terminal-state bug-1737/1738/1739/1764,
scheduler-sim verbosity, hermetic offline build, go mod vendor of Go deps
in apiserver -- 3375 pure-adds), ours +89 (job-finish robustness bug-1509
B1/B3, PEND-reason, worker reconnect resend, apiserver job control).

Conflict resolutions (kept both sides' fixes):
- controller_connector.c checking_connection(): combine theirs
xcecd_resync_is_pending() rejoin deferral gate with ours
  resend_job_status() actual-state re-report on rejoin success.
- job.c: keep both unknown-finish registry (ours, bug-1509) and
  record_job_finish_fact_at (theirs, bug-1747); keep both
  mark_jobs_unknown_core family (ours) and record_job_reconcile_*
(theirs). No double-notify: on_job_finish unchanged, theirs is
  resync-path-only.
- scheduler handler.c/test_handlers.c/meson: theirs schedExitJob
  exit_code branch (bug-1737) + ours jobDispatchFail success-ack no-op
  (bug-1512) + configpush enq_pend_update (bug-1513) both present; both
test suites and REPL/sim targets wired.
- apiserver jobs.go: keep ours normalizeJobInt64/jobArrayIdx superset +
JobIDHuman; drop theirs strict IntOrInt64 early-reject (superseded --
ours tolerates float64/json.Number, no panic path).
- jobs_test.go: keep both regression suites (ours bug-1490, theirs
  bug-1742).
- .kiro/specs scheduler-sim-*/worker-rejoin-resync + .wolf/*: keep our
deletions (established convention -- drop Rongsong bookkeeping on merge).

feat(scheduler): reconcile mem reservation against real usage
Adds reservation-vs-actual-usage reconciliation for real (gauge-style)
resources, using mem as the concrete case -- documented in the new
resource-accounting.md steering doc.

Policy: charged = max(reserved, actual). A job's rusage[mem=...]
request is an estimate made before it has run, and the real usage the
worker later reports may land above or below it; charging a flat
reservation for the job's whole life either starves other jobs of
memory it never uses (when actual stays below the estimate) or lets
the host be driven into genuine oversubscription (when actual exceeds
it). Available memory for scheduling is then the host's OS-reported
available figure minus, per job, only the UNUSED SLACK of the
reservation (max(0, reserved - used)) -- never the job's actual usage
on top of that, since the OS's own figure already reflects it.

The existing xce_res_account_t{used, reserved, allocated} fields and
sched_update_res_accounts()'s used+reserved charge formula already
implement this exactly, once `used` is set to the OVERAGE beyond the
reservation (max(0, actual - reserved)) rather than left at its
permanent 0.0 default -- nothing previously computed it.

New (resource.c): sched_reconcile_host_resource_usage() sets that
overage on one xce_res_account_t and applies just the DELTA to the
affected worker's resInUse (not a full uncharge/recharge of the whole
job_account, which would needlessly re-touch sibling resources like
"slots" charged in the same account). sched_reconcile_job_resource_usage()
is the wrapper driven from a raw rusage report: maps the worker's real
wire resname ("memory_rss", same worker-resname-vs-scheduler-resource-
name split bug-1735 already established for the controller side) to
the scheduler's "mem" resource, and is a no-op when the job spans more
than one host (the wire report carries no per-host attribution today --
a separate, undocumented-until-now gap, out of this fix's scope) or
never requested rusage[mem=...] in the first place (reserved=0, nothing
to reconcile).

Wired into sched_apply_job_rusage() (schedobj.c), which already
receives every job rusage tick but previously only stored it for
display/plugin hooks with no resource-accounting effect at all.

Compatible with sched_account_jobs()'s existing per-round resInUse
reset+re-derive cycle (bug-1624): the reconciled `used` value is
persisted on the job's own account record, which that re-derivation
already reads from, not just a transient pool-level delta that a
round boundary would wipe.

Added link-satisfying stubs to the three white-box test files that
#include schedobj.c directly (test_job_update.c,
test_picker_config_fields.c, test_picker_wiring.c) -- none of them
exercise real job->accounts, so the new call is unreachable there, but
still needs to link. 10 new regression tests in
test_resource_accounting.c cover the core formula (below/at/above the
reservation, delta-only pool updates, sibling-resource isolation) and
the wrapper's scoping rules (resname mapping, multi-host skip,
no-request no-op).

Full scheduler suite: 55/55 passing, zero regressions.

docs: formalize save/restore field-completeness as a standing invariant
Prompted by rediscovering the same bug class in two places this
session: the controller's WAL already has this documented for one
mechanism (persistence.md's APPLY_CLEAN/bug-1678 section, xce-audit-
invariants controller dimension 7) but the scheduler's separate
snapshot save/load mechanism had the identical gap (job->allocs, this
session's scheduler-snapshot-job-allocation brief) with no equivalent
tracking. Closes that gap and makes the invariant self-reinforcing
going forward rather than something that has to be independently
rediscovered per persistence mechanism:

- xce-audit-invariants: new scheduler dimension 4 ("Field-complete
snapshot save/load parity"), sibling of controller dimension 7,
  scoped to snapshot.c/snapshot_wire.c/snapshot_load.c.
- persistence.md: new "Snapshot Save/Load Field-Completeness
  (Scheduler)" section cross-referencing the WAL-side bug-1678 writeup
  and the new scheduler dimension.
- CLAUDE.md: new top-level Key Rules bullet stating the invariant
plainly, plus adding persistence.md to the steering-file pointer
  table (it was missing).
- kiro-spec-design's design-review-gate.md (the mandatory pre-write
gate) and kiro-validate-design's design-review.md (the optional deep
review): new conditional review sections -- applies only when a
design touches a save/restore mechanism, requires enumerating every
persisted field's capture status rather than trusting an aggregate
"state looks right" check. Catches this class of gap at design time,
before implementation, rather than only via a later audit.

docs: OpenWolf pointer cleanup + redirect-hint checklist item (bug-1700 lesson)
CLAUDE.md: replace the stale @.wolf/OPENWOLF.md import with a pointer to
the openwolf skill / rules file, matching how the project's OpenWolf
setup actually resolves the protocol now.

api-standards.md: add checklist item 6 for new primary-only opcodes --
confirm ha_dispatch_gate's -XCE_ERR_STANDBY rejection actually populates
a redirect via fill_redirect_reply(), not just that the client has a
generic redirect-follower. Directly informed by bug-1700, where the
identical gap was independently rediscovered for OPCode_schedAdmin after
already being documented once for OPCode_upgradeConfig.

4e894d2184 merge: sync Rongsong's scheduler-framework into chatbot
Full merge of origin/scheduler-framework (scheduler-core restructure,
failover-adoption, WAL_JOB_DISPATCH, apiserver backend health/heartbeat,
build-time versioning, bug-1673/1676/1678/1679/1680).

Conflict resolution:
- scheduler: adopt Rongsong's scheduler-core architecture (driver loop,
queue project/picker fields, resource bug-1569 fix)
- worker/controller_connector.c: keep Rongsong's reconnect/rejoin
structure, PORT our bug-1509 resend_job_status onto the rejoin success
path (his reconnect didn't re-report job state)
- apiserver backend: take Rongsong's health/heartbeat (supersedes our
  e505066 circuit breaker)
- group.c: keep our bug-1513 comment
- misc: take theirs for additive fixes (go_build versioning,
  test_group.c, persist.c RUSAGE_UPDATE, FilterRows bug-1680)

NOTE: our scheduler fixes (bug-1494 family dispatch-fail requeue,
PEND-reason classification) are NOT in Rongsong's branch — needs
verification/porting onto scheduler-core (separate follow-up).

62dee0edc1 fix(configs): add worker-builtin load indices missing from resources.yaml
worker/src/resource_sync.c init_builtin_load_indices registers 11 load
indices (r15s/r1m/r15m/ut/pg/ls/it/swp/mem/tmp/io) but resources.yaml only
defined r1m/r15s/mem/tmp. The 7 missing ones (r15m/ut/pg/ls/it/swp/io) caused
controller "update_resval: Success" ERRORs and scheduler "unknown resource in
per-worker resvals update" warnings, leaving the worker resource view
incomplete. Add the 7 definitions matching the existing r1m/r15s pattern.

Docs: log bug-1494 (all jobs PEND, scheduler never dispatches; after this
config fix jobs still PEND — remaining suspect is the scheduler→controller
join path after restart), update design doc + verification manual known-issue
tables and root CLAUDE.md cluster-verification status.

Complete the natural-language scheduler agent's Phase 0 read-only pipeline:

Task #2 (API Key auth mechanism):
- New store/apikey.go: APIKey store (hash, validate, expiry)
- controllers/apikey.go: GenerateAPIKey finally persists + registers RBAC role
- controllers/auth.go: GetUsernameFromToken recognizes xce_ak_ prefix
- middleware/validatehandler.go: isValidToken handles API Key
- config/rbac.yaml: mcp_readonly role (view-only permissions)
- 6 new test files covering unit + integration full-chain

Task #3 (schedulerclient Go library):
- types.go: URM types (URMJob/URMQueue/URMNode/JobStatus/Metrics)
- client.go: read-only Client interface (6 methods)
- httpclient.go: resty-based HTTP implementation
- statusmap.go + _test.go: TDD status mapping (33 tests)

Task #4 (mcp-server binary):
- cmd/main.go: entry, reads XCE_API_URL/XCE_API_KEY, registers 6 MCP tools
- internal/app.go: tool handlers wiring schedulerclient to MCP stdio
- Uses github.com/mark3labs/mcp-go@v0.57.0 for stdio transport

All: go vet clean, go build clean, schedulerclient 33/33 tests pass.
mcp-server binary ~11MB arm64, CGO_ENABLED=0.

7b39650229 refactor(ha): passive standby model — primary connects outbound to all peers
Remove fetch_config_from_primary, ha_find_and_connect_to_primary, and the
tier-1/2/3 discovery path. Standbys never initiate outbound connections to
the primary; the primary owns all inter-controller channels.

Key changes:
- ha.c: add primary heartbeat loop (ha_start_primary_heartbeat) that sends
OPCode_nop to connected standbys every heartbeat_interval_ms; loop
self-cancels on demotion via role check before re-arm.
- ha.c: add outbound reconnect in primary_heartbeat_fn — for peers absent
from standby_endpoints, open fresh outbound TLS connection (on_standby_connected
sends ctrlhello; standby_ep_ctx_t mirrors vote_ep_ctx_t layout).
- ha.c: remove ha_find_and_connect_to_primary + helpers (ha_raw_tcp_connect,
  ha_tcp_connect_hook); remove election_timeout_fn (superseded by
  raft_election_timeout_fn); remove fetch_config_from_primary call from
  ha_elect_evaluate_and_signal STANDBY branch.
- cluster.c: OPCode_requestVote denial no longer reuses inbound connection;
late joiners are bootstrapped via primary heartbeat outbound connect.
- config_repl.c: remove connect_ssl_raw, do_one_config_fetch,
  fetch_config_from_primary (~250 LOC).
- myapp.c: remove my_tag > 0 fetch branch; all standbys wait passively.
- ha.h: remove ha_find_and_connect_to_primary declaration + macros +
  ha_tcp_connect_hook seam; add ha_start_primary_heartbeat declaration.
- meson.build: remove test_ha_connect.c (tests deleted function).
- controller_test.c: remove test_ha_connect registration.
- CLAUDE.md, src/controller/CLAUDE.md: document passive standby model,
inbound-vs-outbound connection ownership, async I/O constraint,
  heartbeat model.
- request.h: add xce_request declaration (removes scattered local externs).

1599d06bc4 feat: filter lost_and_found sentinel from pushes; reset unavail host attrs
- create_lost_and_found(): provide hostattrs_t so makeWorker succeeds
- collect_queues/collect_workers (dataex.c): skip lost_and_found sentinel
so it is never pushed to apiserver or scheduler
- mark_worker_unavail(): reset hosttype/hostmodel to "unknown" and zero
all numeric attrs, then update resvals and slots — prevents stale
capacity from being visible while the host is down
- restore_worker(): apply the same attr reset on WAL recovery so
  restored-but-unavailable workers advertise no capacity until reconnect;
also remove dead calloc() that was immediately overwritten by makeWorker
- Extract reset_hostattrs_unknown() helper to eliminate copy-paste
- Define XCE_LOST_AND_FOUND_NAME constant in config_repl.h; replace all
six raw "lost_and_found" string literals across config_repl.c and dataex.c
