ea8d9d3c4f fix(job-array-single-wal-record): extend Live Apply Resource Fence to boot replay (task 4.2's gap)
replay_wal() now halts logical apply and engages persist_mark_apply_resource_fenced()
on a negative apply_committed_entry() return during boot/restart replay, mirroring
persist_apply_pump_run()'s existing live-path halt-and-fence behavior (task 4.1).
Physical scan bookkeeping (current_lsn, CRC chain) stays unconditional per entry,
consistent with persist_recover()'s own established current_lsn/last_applied_lsn
divergence precedent.

Went through one remediation round: round 1 exercised the wrong ha.c gate (periodic
re-alert timer); round 2 corrected the test to drive the real election-time gate
(raft_cb_become_leader_with_cluster_for_test()), with teeth independently confirmed
via a temporary fence-clear RED/GREEN cycle. Round-2 reviewer APPROVED.

Documents a real, NOT-fixed residual gap found during this task: a node's very
first-ever promotion evaluation in a fresh process runs before that node's own
first persist_recover()/replay_wal() call, so this fence is invisible to that one
promotion check (ha.c:1303-1408 gate runs before ha.c:1427-1439's first-boot
recovery). Every promotion evaluation after a process's first one is protected.
Out of this task's persist.c-only boundary; flagged for a dedicated ha.c follow-up.

1888498401 test(job-array-single-wal-record): end-to-end fault-injection test for the live fence
New test_job_array_fence.c exercises the full Requirement 9.4-9.6
engage-refuse-clear-recover sequence through real production seams:
forced array-expansion failure -> fence engages -> promotion refused
at a real ha.c gate site -> zero partial elements visible -> a second,
independent node's progress is unaffected -> clearing the failure and
retrying self-heals the fence and re-opens promotion eligibility.

Deliberately drives this through task 3.1's construction-phase
(scratch-build) seam rather than the bulk-insert-phase seam: the
bulk-insert seam has a known, separately-tested residual gap (an
already-inserted element prefix can survive a mid-pass key_add()
failure with no key_del to undo it), so asserting "no partial set"
against it would misrepresent an already-documented open gap as
resolved. That gap remains open and unowned (see tasks.md
Implementation Notes) -- Phase 4 delivers the generic halt/fence/gate
machinery for it, not the partial-visibility guarantee itself.

Task 4.4 of job-array-single-wal-record (Requirements 9.4, 9.5, 9.6).
This completes Phase 4 (Live Apply Resource Fence).

7c755dc4d7 feat(job-array-single-wal-record): implement restore_job_array primitive
Adds the shared N-way array expansion primitive: decodes a committed
WAL_JOB_ARRAY_SUBMIT payload, scratch-builds every element via a
throwaway kv-table (never touching c->jobmgr during construction),
then makes the whole set visible in one bulk pass under a single
write-lock acquisition -- no window where a concurrent reader can
observe a partially-constructed array. Idempotent per index (skips
already-existing jobids; whole-record no-op if all exist). Includes
an XCE_TESTING-guarded fault-injection seam. Not yet wired into any
live dispatch path (tasks 3.2/3.3).

Two review rounds: round 1 found the bulk-insert pass silently
claimed success even when key_add() itself could fail on allocation
exhaustion (c->jobmgr grows via realloc, no reservation primitive
exists anywhere in kv.c/kvmgr.c/zarray.c to pre-check this). Fixed
by checking key_add()'s return and reporting failure honestly
instead of a false success. The underlying table has no key_del, so
an already-inserted prefix on this specific failure mode can remain
genuinely visible while the call reports failure -- documented as a
residual gap in design.md and tasks.md for tasks 3.2/4.x to account
for (that prefix is never pushed to scheduler/API server, even on a
later successful retry, since it's never included in out_new_jobs).

Task 3.1 of job-array-single-wal-record.

6529dcf08f feat(ha): reference-counted ha_elect_ctx_t lifecycle (ha-elect-ctx-lifecycle)
Replace the deliberate election-carrier leak with an atomic refcount:
a bias reference held by ha->elect_ctx plus one reference per captured
vote endpoint, released via a new endpoint_t.on_fini teardown-completion
hook (fired once, before ep->data is freed). Both real-election and
PreVote capture sites (raft_cb_send_vote_request,
raft_cb_send_pre_vote_request) increment on capture; both publish sites
(ha_start_election_async, ha_start_prevote_async) now atomic_exchange
the outgoing carrier and release it instead of leaking or freeing
outright, so a still-outstanding vote endpoint keeps the superseded
carrier alive until its own teardown completes.

Verified: 758+ controller tests green, isolated LeakSanitizer run shows
zero ha_elect_ctx_t leaks across many election/PreVote rounds, no
premature-free/UAF under supersession, and a live 10-round HA soak
(36 jobs, zero loss, all 3 nodes served as primary).

5f3b97a97b test(raft-apply-decoupling): apply/notify timing integration through the full pump (task 6.3)
Add test_apply_pump_integration.c (2 tests), no production changes.
Exercises the full live pump (real commit engine, real apply
dispatch, real hook subscribers) for both a job submission and a
fact: proves reply-after-visibility ordering for commands, and zero
fact-reaction side effects during a delayed-commit/quorum-loss
window (polled repeatedly across real time, not checked once).

Confirms Req 4.3 by construction, not assertion: the apply walk only
ever invokes apply_committed_entry() for LSNs already <= committed_lsn,
so a consumer acting on the post-apply notification never needs to
separately re-check a commit watermark.

Independently verifies apply_committed_entry()'s generic
HOOK_DETAIL_JOB_UPDATE routing (unchanged by task 6.1's _pad fix)
makes the type-specific sched.c/apiserver.c hook handlers
structurally unreachable for live-applied facts -- confirmed their
va_arg-typed signatures would type-confuse-crash if ever called with
the job_t* apply_committed_entry() actually passes, making the
single generic reaction spy a sound design, not a coverage gap.

Repo-wide audit confirms exactly 2 live call sites ever fire these
hook details (the guarded apply seam, and job_ctrl's legitimate
SIGCONT/SIGSTOP path) -- no orphaned third site.

2fa955b92e feat(raft-apply-decoupling): ordered live apply pump activates apply_committed_entry (task 6.1)
Build persist_apply_pump_run()/persist_apply_pump_kick() -- the
ordered walk from last_applied_lsn+1 through committed_lsn, applying
every entry via apply_committed_entry() regardless of commit mode.
This is the first live (non-replay) consumer of that dispatch
function. Kick is wired into commit_resolve_pending() (the single
choke point all 6 internal committed_lsn-advancing paths funnel
through, discovered in task 1.2), dispatched via
vtask_enq_classified(VTASK_LIVE_BLOCK) with a CAS-coalesced
fire-and-forget trigger.

Fixes the two hazards flagged since task 4.1 as required before
going live:

1. Double-append: a thread-local call-provenance guard
   (t_apply_seam_notifying) prevents persist_job_hook_fun/
   persist_queue_hook_fun/persist_worker_hook_fun from re-appending
entries the apply pump itself just applied, while preserving
   job_ctrl's legitimate live command-path appends (a naive
detail-based filter would have broken SIGCONT/SIGSTOP). Also
closes an undocumented instance of the same hazard in the
   queue/worker hook functions.

2. Merge-staleness: record_job_fail_fact/postdone's fact recording
previously baked a receipt-time-computed final job state into the
WAL entry, which goes stale under deferred apply -- a FINISH
followed shortly by an ordinary post-exec FAIL could silently
clobber a correct DONE completion with a stale RUN|EXIT|PERR, no
guard catching it. Fixed by repurposing wal_jobstate_t's unused
_pad field to carry just enough data (FAIL's stage) to recompute
against the job's actual current state at apply time via the real
   apply_job_fail_transition()/new apply_job_postdone_transition()
guard cores, instead of overwriting with a stale absolute value.
Backward compatible: _pad==0 (all prior data) routes to the same
   legacy overwrite behavior.

Also fixes bug-1409 (unbounded busy-loop in apply_pump_drain when
committed_lsn advances without a corresponding on-disk entry) and a
genuine test-flakiness hazard (a second, independent apply-pump
kicker from the fsync_worker thread that existing tests didn't
account for).

Two pre-existing tests in test_commit_barrier_reply.c now fail as
expected -- their own assertions state "no job may be constructed
until task 6's apply pump exists," now correctly invalidated by this
task landing; updating them is task 7.3's explicit job.

c005d40741 feat(raft-apply-decoupling): post-replay apply-correctness verification (task 5.1)
Add apply_verdict_t (APPLY_CLEAN/APPLY_DIVERGENT) computed alongside
the existing structural (CRC) recover_verdict_t. Dual-check design:
an entity-count check (WAL_JOB_SUBMIT entries scanned vs live jobmgr
growth, genuinely independent of apply_committed_entry()'s return
code) and a position check against a new last_applied_lsn field
(forward-looking infrastructure for task 6's live pump).

Fixes a real bug found during review: the position check's
expectation was computed from the physical WAL-scan tip
(current_lsn - 1), which advances past checkpoint markers and
unknown entry types that never reach apply_committed_entry(). A
crash between persist_checkpoint()'s marker-fsync step and its
later snapshot-persist step leaves a trailing checkpoint marker on
next boot, which falsely reported APPLY_DIVERGENT on a perfectly
clean recovery -- reachable today, not gated behind a future task.
Fixed by reading last_applied_lsn directly, which only advances for
entries actually dispatched through the apply seam.

Known accepted gap: entity-count check covers jobs only, not
workers (which can genuinely be created via WAL_WORKER_CTRL) --
documented for future extension.

8febd663d5 test(raft-apply-decoupling): idempotent and ordered re-application of apply seam (task 2.4)
Add test_apply_reapply_idempotency.c (3 tests, no production changes):
triple-reapplication of an identical job submit with hook-count and
pointer-identity assertions across every call, the NOOP_DUPLICATE
guard branch (untested by task 2.2), and the task's named scenario --
real SUBMIT then real FINISH then a stale out-of-order START, all
through the real apply_committed_entry() dispatch -- confirming the
job stays terminal with no spurious notification.

Closes out task-group 2 (shared apply seam for committed entries).

50d016d905 feat(raft-apply-decoupling): point restart replay at apply_committed_entry seam (task 2.3)
Rewire replay_wal()'s per-entry apply call from apply_wal_entry() to
apply_committed_entry() (task 2.2's shared dispatch seam), so restart
replay and the future live commit-advance pump (task 6.1) both
produce materialized state deterministically from the committed log.
apply_wal_entry() is not retired -- it remains ha.c's live standby
catch-up/replicated-apply dispatch, untouched.

Documents a real hazard: replay now fires AFTER_EVENT hooks for the
full post-checkpoint WAL range on every restart, including entries
already applied+notified in a prior process life. Traced and
confirmed inert today for both hook consumers (scheduler registers
post-boot, apiserver gates notify on a connected endpoint empty at
boot); flagged in tasks.md and in-line at the call site for
re-verification before tasks 4.1/6.1/6.2/6.3 make this path broadly
live.

8c00f20cec feat(raft-apply-decoupling): build apply_committed_entry single dispatch seam (task 2.2)
Add apply_committed_entry(persist_t*, wal_type, lsn, payload, len) in
persist.c/persist.h as the single seam that turns a committed WAL
entry into an in-memory mutation plus its post-mutation notification
hook, covering job submit, job-state facts, queue control, and
worker control. Job-state facts route through 2.1's guard-only
apply_job_update_transition() core and fire a generic
HOOK_DETAIL_JOB_UPDATE, not per-type hooks — the wire format
(wal_jobstate_t {jobid, state}) cannot supply what the type-specific
cores/hooks require. This is a real, documented deviation from
design.md's per-type dispatch wording; tasks.md's Implementation
Notes flags it as unresolved and blocking for whoever wires this
into a live path (4.1/6.2/6.3).

Not yet wired into any live call site (replay wiring is 2.3).

41d36204d5 feat(raft-apply-decoupling): extract guarded fact transition logic into reusable cores (task 2.1)
Split mark_job_start/finish/fail/update in job.c into four hook-free
core functions (apply_job_*_transition) containing only the
monotonic-rank guard and mutation. Wrappers now peek the same guard
to decide hook-firing, then delegate to the core, preserving exact
pre-extraction hook-firing timing. Prerequisite for task 2.2's
apply_committed_entry() dispatch and the ordered apply pump (6.1).

10d157f8c5 feat(raft-apply-decoupling): add commit engine continuation registration (task 1.1)
commit_submit_async() lets a WAIT-mode caller register a continuation
against an appended LSN instead of blocking on pthread_cond_timedwait,
reusing the existing admission-cap discipline (wait_admit_locked/
wait_release_locked) so the bounded-capacity guarantee carries over
unchanged. Purely additive: no existing call site (repl_wait_majority_ack)
is touched yet -- that switch lands in task 3.2 once commit_resolve()
(task 1.2) exists to drive it.

5cb36794d2 fix(raft-drive-async): resolve snapshot chunk-drop (bug-1386) and chunk misordering (bug-1389)
ha_send_snapshot_to_standby ignored the network send's return value in its
chunk loop, silently truncating a transfer on a mid-stream error while still
logging "complete" (bug-1386). Fixing the silent drop exposed a second,
independent bug in the same pipeline: ha_handle_snapshot_chunk appended
received chunks in arrival order instead of at their wire-carried
chunk_offset, so out-of-order delivery across the vtask pool corrupted the
reassembled file even though every chunk's bytes were individually correct
(bug-1389). Fixed by checking every fallible call in the send loop and
switching the receiver to pwrite-at-offset with a count-based completion
tracker.

Adds snapverify/snapdiff xce_test commands (offline checkpoint-file
structural validator and byte-level comparator) used to diagnose bug-1389 and
kept as standing diagnostic tools for future snapshot-transfer triage.

g_drive_async_configpush_offload flipped back ON after both fixes, validated
via 6-round chaotic + 3/3 force-snapshot soak (raft-drive-async task 3.3).

10f9bbfd9d feat(ha-entity-snapshots): add spec + task 1.1 test fixture
Adds the ha-entity-snapshots Kiro spec (requirements, design, research,
tasks) for task 5.10a / raft-ha-core-safety: making the HA checkpoint an
actually-restorable copy of committed job/queue state instead of a
position-only sentinel, closing the residual chaotic-soak divergence gap.

Task 1.1 (foundation): reusable test fixture snapent_make/snapent_teardown
in a new test_persist_snapshot_entities.c, seeding N jobs (varying state)
and M queues (varying status) into a real persist_t+cluster_t for later
write/load/rotation-guard tests to build on. Build clean; new suite 1/1;
regression spot-checks (test_persist_hooks 19/19, test_commit_barrier_reply
22/22) clean.

d2830ce514 test(raft-drive-async): receiver-side dispatch liveness integration tests (task 3.4b)
With the dispatch flags flipped ON in-test, prove the three receiver-side
liveness properties (production defaults stay OFF):

- P1: while a snapshot (and config-push) transfer is parked in flight on the
slow lane, another endpoint's peer-control message is still processed
promptly on the vtask pool (different thread), with the transfer still
parked — the offloaded transfer does not block the drive path.
- P2: a peer-control ack (classified VTASK_LIVENESS) runs promptly even while
the pool is saturated to the LivenessAdmission reservation boundary with
  REQ_BLOCK tasks (one more REQ_BLOCK fast-rejects with -E_XCE_NOT_READY,
proving real saturation). Narrowed to the liveness-dispatch-under-saturation
assertion; commit-advance itself is covered by the commit-engine tests.
- P3: while one endpoint's peer-control body is parked (holding a worker + that
ep busy), another endpoint's body runs concurrently on a different worker —
per-endpoint FIFO does not serialize across endpoints.

All deterministic (cond-var gates, bounded polls). Fixed a flaky teardown-race
hang (bug-1224): the tests released a parked vtask body then immediately called
the cancel-based vtaskmgr_fini while the just-released body was still unwinding
(P2's REQ_BLOCK bodies racing blk_lock teardown the worst). Fix adds end-of-body
completion counters polled to the full expected count before fini, so every
pool body has fully returned (worker idle) before the cancel. slowlane_fini is
graceful (join) so the lane side was already safe.

Verified: 5/5 deterministic isolated runs; full controller suite EXIT=0;
ASan-clean. Completes task 3.4 (3.4a UAF fix + 3.4b tests); the production
flag-flip remains deferred to after the 4.1 partition soak + 4.2 regression
sweep.

6d510d8cf4 fix(raft-drive-async): endpoint-quiescence for bug-1197 vote-ep teardown (task 3.4a)
When the (still-default-OFF) peer-control dispatch flag is ON,
raft_cb_become_follower runs as a vtask pool worker and frees every peer
vote-ep while other pool workers may still hold those eps' data — a UAF
(bug-1197). This makes that path quiescence-safe so the flag can later be
flipped ON (deferred to the 4.x prod-flip gate; production stays OFF here).

Mechanism (no libxce-wide endpoint refcount; reuses the existing per-ep FIFO +
busy serialization):

- Deferred teardown-as-vtask: the loser loop, when dispatch is ON and the pool
  is wired, does per vote-ep endpoint_mark_tearing_down -> iomgr_unmonitor ->
enqueue a VTASK_IO/VTASK_LIVENESS teardown vtask bound to that ep. Per-ep busy
FIFO makes it run strictly after any in-flight/queued same-ep peer-control
vtask; the body NULLs iod->ep before endpoint_fini+free(ep) to disarm
run_task's post-body endpoint_unblock_tasks (which would touch the freed
  ep->lock). OFF / pool-unwired path is byte-for-byte the legacy endpoint_fini.

- RCU-like drain closes the dispatch/teardown TOCTOU window: new _Atomic int
endpoint_t.dispatch_inflight (+ tearing_down:1 bit). The ON dispatch brackets
  its flag-check+enqueue with fetch_add/fetch_sub (seq_cst);
endpoint_mark_tearing_down sets the flag under ep->lock, releases, then spins
until dispatch_inflight drains to 0. So every dispatch that read the flag
false finishes its enqueue before mark returns (FIFO-before the teardown
vtask); any later dispatch reads the flag set and drops the packet. ep->lock
is deliberately NOT held across the enqueue (it inverts with the taskq lock in
vtask_eligible); the counter is the lock-free handshake. Drain is bounded: the
held window is just a calloc + non-blocking enqueue on the single io_worker.

Still open before the production flag flip (4.x): the borrowed-ep race in
snapshot_lane_fn/configpush_lane_fn is distinct (slowlane thread vs io_worker
RDHUP teardown, not the vtask-pool FIFO) and needs its own per-standby-ep
discipline.

Tests: test_ha_vep_teardown.c — 5 ASan tests (ordering, late-event drop, run_task
unblock disarm, OFF-path unchanged, deterministic mark-drains-inflight-dispatch).
xcelib_test 282/0; controller_unit_test EXIT=0; ASan-clean. Adversarial
cpp-review: no CRITICAL/HIGH; handshake formally sound, flag-ON path race-free.

Legacy-0 -> WAL_LEGACY_TERM=1 at read-back only (raw 0 retained so present-legacy-0
is distinguishable from absent). 40-byte wal_entry_hdr_t preserved (value fix, R1.7).
5 new tests (test_term_safety_adapter.c); reviewer APPROVED. Feeds task 2.2.

All controller test groups report 0 failures; the meson full-suite timeout is the

3b4656228e test(ha-heartbeat-committed-propagation): verify vote floor consumes heartbeat-raised committed safely (task 3.2)
Test-only: exercises the real ha_vote_self_freshness/handle_request_vote gate.
A heartbeat raise via ha_observe_heartbeat_committed lifts the floor to
max(durable=5, raised=9); candidate at 7 denied, at 9/12 granted; a lower
heartbeat never lowers it. Discriminating constants fail under either regression
(floor->durable-only or fold->min). No production/vote-path change (Req 3.2).

8bfa861be2 feat(ha-heartbeat-committed-propagation): add reconcile-free ha_observe_heartbeat_committed (task 2.1)
Strict-monotonic updater for a standby's learned committed position: advance
last_known_committed_lsn only when strictly greater (zero/lower no-op), set the
config tag together (tag-before-lsn release ordering for reader safety). No
ha_rejoin_reconcile, no truncation, no other mutation (Req 2.1-2.3, 3.1, 3.3).
4 revert-detecting unit tests; controller suite 0 failures.

b765fc4705 feat(ha-prevote): rewire failover triggers through PreVote, defer destructive step (task 4.2)
ha_on_primary_ctrl_fd_rdhup + liveness_poll_fn now begin a PreVote round via
ha_begin_failover -> ha_start_prevote_async instead of electing directly; WAL
truncate + CTRL_ELECTING deferred to PreVote WON (ha_enter_real_election).
Connection teardown + config-less voter guard preserved at the trigger.
ha_on_heartbeat_received cancels an in-progress round and re-attaches as standby
with no term change. Single-node immediate-WON synchronously enters the real
election. PreVote now live; full controller suite 563 pass / 0 fail; bug-339/340
preserved.

7e19bf6110 feat(ha-prevote): controller candidate-side PreVote orchestration (task 4.1)
ha.c: raft_cb_send_pre_vote_request (emits preVoteRequest), ha_start_prevote_async
(side-effect-free round + bounded round timeout), pre_vote_reply_dispatch

7519fa96dd fix(ha-commit-engine,persist): reserve WAL lsn 0 — first entry starts at lsn 1
Root cause (found via live 3-node E2E + a verification test): lsn was 0-based
(hdr.lsn = current_lsn++ from current_lsn=0), and 0 was overloaded as a
sentinel, causing three cold-start defects on a freshly-promoted leader:
  - the first WAL entry (own-term promotion NOOP at lsn 0) was structurally
uncommittable: commit_advance_locked only stores when cand>cur and
    committed_lsn starts at 0, so lsn 0 can never advance it;
  - commit_set_writable_lsn(noop_lsn=0) set writable_lsn=0, which wait_done
    reads as 'gate off' — the own-term safety gate was a no-op on the first leader;
  - bug-543 (WAL hole): ha_stream_wal_to_standby filters hdr.lsn>standby_lsn;
a fresh empty standby reports standby_lsn=0 (ambiguous 'empty' vs 'has lsn 0'),
so lsn 0 failed 0>0 and was dropped -> non-contiguous standby WAL.

Fix: a fresh persist store initializes current_lsn=1, reserving lsn 0 as the
none/empty sentinel. The first real entry is lsn 1 -> committable (0->1),
writable_lsn=1 -> gate effective, and standby_lsn=0 unambiguously means 'empty'
so catch-up streams from the first entry with no hole. persist_recover is
data-driven (current_lsn=max(hdr.lsn+1)), so existing on-disk WALs and non-fresh
recovery are unaffected; the change only sets the base for brand-new stores.
No wire/capnp change.

Verification: test_coldstart_lsn0 drives the real commit engine + real streamer
and proves H1 (first entry commits 0->1), H3 (gate effective + blocks when
committed<writable), H4 (empty-standby catch-up is contiguous [1,2], control
standby_lsn=1 gets only [2]). Full controller suite green under ASAN. Tests that
relied on the lsn-0 base were shifted (several strengthened); commit.c /
config_repl.c / ha.c / wire format untouched.

Owning specs: ha-commit-engine / ha-wal-replication / persist. Follow-up:
sweep stale lsn-0 comments (repl.c:429-436, persist.c:1055-1075/1240-1243/1296).

738859fb4e feat(ha-heartbeat-liveness): replace hb_timeout_thread with liveness_poll_fn (task 2.1)
Remove hb_vtask_t, hb_timeout_thread, s_hb_vtask from ha.c. Replace with

7b39650229 refactor(ha): passive standby model — primary connects outbound to all peers
Remove fetch_config_from_primary, ha_find_and_connect_to_primary, and the
tier-1/2/3 discovery path. Standbys never initiate outbound connections to
the primary; the primary owns all inter-controller channels.

Key changes:
- ha.c: add primary heartbeat loop (ha_start_primary_heartbeat) that sends
OPCode_nop to connected standbys every heartbeat_interval_ms; loop
self-cancels on demotion via role check before re-arm.
- ha.c: add outbound reconnect in primary_heartbeat_fn — for peers absent
from standby_endpoints, open fresh outbound TLS connection (on_standby_connected
sends ctrlhello; standby_ep_ctx_t mirrors vote_ep_ctx_t layout).
- ha.c: remove ha_find_and_connect_to_primary + helpers (ha_raw_tcp_connect,
  ha_tcp_connect_hook); remove election_timeout_fn (superseded by
  raft_election_timeout_fn); remove fetch_config_from_primary call from
  ha_elect_evaluate_and_signal STANDBY branch.
- cluster.c: OPCode_requestVote denial no longer reuses inbound connection;
late joiners are bootstrapped via primary heartbeat outbound connect.
- config_repl.c: remove connect_ssl_raw, do_one_config_fetch,
  fetch_config_from_primary (~250 LOC).
- myapp.c: remove my_tag > 0 fetch branch; all standbys wait passively.
- ha.h: remove ha_find_and_connect_to_primary declaration + macros +
  ha_tcp_connect_hook seam; add ha_start_primary_heartbeat declaration.
- meson.build: remove test_ha_connect.c (tests deleted function).
- controller_test.c: remove test_ha_connect registration.
- CLAUDE.md, src/controller/CLAUDE.md: document passive standby model,
inbound-vs-outbound connection ownership, async I/O constraint,
  heartbeat model.
- request.h: add xce_request declaration (removes scattered local externs).

e50afd02f6 feat(election-iomgr-refactor): implement ha_start_election_async — task 2.4
Non-blocking election initiator that returns immediately after registering
vote endpoints with iomgr and scheduling the election timeout watchdog.

- Single-node shortcircuit (n_peers==1): allocates self-only ha_elect_ctx_t,
calls ha_elect_evaluate_and_signal directly, frees ctx inline — no iomgr
or delaymgr involvement; returns in < 1ms
- Multi-node: allocates ha_elect_ctx_t, per-peer vote_ep_ctx_t, calls
endpoint_connect + iomgr_monitor for each peer; schedules election timeout
via delay_task_ms; skips peer on connect failure (counted as denied)
- election_timeout_fn: delaymgr callback that fires ha_elect_evaluate_and_signal
after election_timeout_ms, unless cancelled flag is set (lock-free cancellation)
- vote_ep_err_handler: counts unreachable peers as denied votes
- Declares ha_start_election_async in ha.h with full doc comment
- 5 Unity tests in test_ha_start_election_async.c: returns < 5ms, stores
n_peers, shortcircuit fires immediately, n_peers stored for multi-peer,
term incremented — all GREEN with ASAN enabled
2026-05-30 08:57:59 +00:00
18c280429e feat(election-iomgr-refactor): add vote_ep_ctx_t and on_vote_connected
- vote_ep_ctx_t: per-peer context (ha, c, ctx, peer_idx, term/tag/lsn/name)
- election_timeout_ctx_t: cancelled flag + context for delay watchdog
- on_vote_connected(): iomgr callback fires after SSL handshake; builds
  xce_request_t{opcode=OPCode_requestVote}, calls xce_request, sets msg_handler
- vote_reply_msg_handler stub (returns 0; implemented in task 2.3)
- Test seam: xce_vote_request_hook for unit testing without live SSL
- 4 new unit tests: opcode, field encoding, msg_handler set, cancelled flag

Context note: vctx->c is NULL in test helper — task 2.3 must use real cluster_t*
