The buglog was one 27K-line JSON file whose fields covered only symptom,
root cause and fix, as free text: 2% of entries named the code version a
bug was found on, 12% the build profile, 36% a way to reproduce, and 58% of
the file was OpenWolf hook auto-detections ("Missing guard clause",
"Function not marked async" on .md files).
- .claude/skills/buglog/bug-record.md: the record standard. Eight
sections (Summary as the title, Description, Environment, Reproduction;
Root cause, Fix, Verification, References once fixed), each with the
content it must contain -- e.g. Environment needs the OS, the libc the
failing binary loads (from its ELF interpreter: glibc 2.42 in the nix
shell vs 2.40 on the host), toolchain, build profile and commit.
- .wolf/bugs/<id>.md: 500 records migrated from buglog.json; every field
verified to round-trip. They carry legacy: true and an explicit "not
recorded" where the old log had no such field; component derived from
file paths, severity from keywords (else unknown), fix_commits from
hashes in status_note/fix that git resolves (91 of 463 fixed).
- .wolf/buglog-archive.json: the 710 hook auto-detections, verbatim.
- .wolf/buglog.json is now an index generated from the records, keeping
the fields OpenWolf's hooks and `openwolf bug search` read.
- scripts/buglog.py rewritten: new (template + Environment collected from
the machine and --binary), check, status (refuses a status the record
doesn't support; fixed needs Root cause, Fix, Verification and
--commit hashes git resolves), note, recur, set, show, list, triage,
env, index. 29 unittest cases in scripts/tests/test_buglog.py.
- scripts/git-hooks/pre-commit runs `check --staged`: incomplete staged
records, a legacy record hand-changed to fixed without the fix-time
sections, a new record claiming legacy: true, or a stale index refuse
the commit.
- scripts/gitea-sync.py reads the records: issue body = the record's
sections plus linked fix commits (origin remote, GITEA_COMMIT_REPO to
override), and a body hash so an issue's text is refreshed when the
record changes.
- bug-1866 rewritten to the full standard as the worked example.

# bug-1028: Post-failover AVAILABILITY: after a clean failover the new primary never becomes available to…
|
|
|
|
## Description
|
|
Post-failover AVAILABILITY: after a clean failover the new primary never becomes available to serve clients (wait-primary times out). New primary logs 'ha_dispatch_repl_action_for_standby: standby[0] lsn=5 < committed_lsn=6 -> stream WAL batches' every ~3s indefinitely; the lagging standby never advances to the new primary's own-term tip, and the client cannot reach a serving primary. Surfaced only AFTER bug-828 was fixed (the committed-job-loss previously masked this by failing the harness earlier at walcompare).

## Reproduction

## Root cause
|
|
ha_stream_wal_to_standby (config_repl.c) stamped each streamed entry's term and the AppendEntries prev_log_term from raw on-disk hdr.term (the WAL header), but the standby's logOk (raft_on_append_entries_request) and the library's own send path both source terms from persist_entry_term (the authoritative in-memory per-LSN term index), which maps a legacy-0 entry to WAL_LEGACY_TERM(1). So for a legacy-0 predecessor entry (raw hdr.term==0), the streamer sent prev_log_term=0 while the standby computed its own term as 1 → logOk mismatch → the new-term NOOP (the post-promotion first entry) is perpetually rejected → no WalAck → applied_lsn stuck at pre-promotion value → the heartbeat state report advertises the stale lsn → the primary re-streams [lsn+1..committed] every heartbeat cycle. The committed prefix stays byte-identical because only term metadata diverges, not data. CONFIRMED: baseline walcompare shows committed-prefix DIVERGENCE (term mismatch → CRC-chain breaks on some members); with the fix the committed prefix is IDENTICAL.

|
|
## Fix
|
|
FIXED (2026-06-23). ha_stream_wal_to_standby gained a const persist_t* p parameter (decl in config_repl.h). All three hdr.term source sites in the streamer body (entry->term, prev_streamed_term on the main path, prev_streamed_term on the OOM-skip path) replaced with p ? persist_entry_term(p, hdr.lsn) : hdr.term (NULL-p path for count-only unit tests). Callers (ha_dispatch_repl_action_for_standby in ha.c, catchup_stream_range in config_repl.c) pass &c->persist. Unit test (test_wal_stream_term_from_index_not_raw_hdr) legacy-appends LSN 1 at term 0 + LSN 2 at term 3; streams standby_lsn=1,committed=2; asserts streamed entry term==3 and prev_log_term==WAL_LEGACY_TERM(1). RED→GREEN proven (Expected 1 Was 0 → PASS). Live: standby converge + committed prefix identical.
