The buglog was one 27K-line JSON file whose fields covered only symptom,
root cause and fix, as free text: 2% of entries named the code version a
bug was found on, 12% the build profile, 36% a way to reproduce, and 58% of
the file was OpenWolf hook auto-detections ("Missing guard clause",
"Function not marked async" on .md files).
- .claude/skills/buglog/bug-record.md: the record standard. Eight
sections (Summary as the title, Description, Environment, Reproduction;
Root cause, Fix, Verification, References once fixed), each with the
content it must contain -- e.g. Environment needs the OS, the libc the
failing binary loads (from its ELF interpreter: glibc 2.42 in the nix
shell vs 2.40 on the host), toolchain, build profile and commit.
- .wolf/bugs/<id>.md: 500 records migrated from buglog.json; every field
verified to round-trip. They carry legacy: true and an explicit "not
recorded" where the old log had no such field; component derived from
file paths, severity from keywords (else unknown), fix_commits from
hashes in status_note/fix that git resolves (91 of 463 fixed).
- .wolf/buglog-archive.json: the 710 hook auto-detections, verbatim.
- .wolf/buglog.json is now an index generated from the records, keeping
the fields OpenWolf's hooks and `openwolf bug search` read.
- scripts/buglog.py rewritten: new (template + Environment collected from
the machine and --binary), check, status (refuses a status the record
doesn't support; fixed needs Root cause, Fix, Verification and
--commit hashes git resolves), note, recur, set, show, list, triage,
env, index. 29 unittest cases in scripts/tests/test_buglog.py.
- scripts/git-hooks/pre-commit runs `check --staged`: incomplete staged
records, a legacy record hand-changed to fixed without the fix-time
sections, a new record claiming legacy: true, or a stale index refuse
the commit.
- scripts/gitea-sync.py reads the records: issue body = the record's
sections plus linked fix commits (origin remote, GITEA_COMMIT_REPO to
override), and a body hash so an issue's text is refreshed when the
record changes.
- bug-1866 rewritten to the full standard as the worked example.

# bug-1495: sched_get_user()/sched_get_project() (core.c) always returned NULL for any user/project name not…
|
|
|
|
## Description
|
|
sched_get_user()/sched_get_project() (core.c) always returned NULL for any user/project name not already present in core->users/core->projects, even though both are documented and relied upon (core_events.c JOBS_PUSH, schedobj.c make_sched_job, and task 8.1's own snapshot_load.c) as get-or-create. Surfaced as job->user/job->project being silently NULL for every job referencing a brand-new user/project, discovered while writing test_snapshot_save_load.c's cross-core equivalence test (RED phase: TEST_ASSERT_NOT_NULL(sched_get_project(&core_a, "proj1")) failed immediately after a successful JOBS_PUSH).

## Root cause
|
|
Both functions call key_find() then do `if (rc < 0) { return NULL; }` before falling through to the make_sched_user()/make_sched_project() create path. key_find()'s actual not-found signal is a NEGATIVE errno (-ENOENT, confirmed via direct debug instrumentation: rc=-2 for an absent key, rc=1 for a present one) -- NOT rc==0 as the surrounding code assumed. Since -ENOENT < 0, the guard incorrectly treated the EXPECTED not-found outcome as a fatal error and returned NULL before ever reaching the create fallback, making get-or-create unreachable for any genuinely new name. This is a pre-existing bug from earlier tasks (4.1/4.3), not introduced by task 8.1, but it directly breaks task 8.1's own snapshot_load.c users/projects restoration onto a freshly-initialized core (which always starts empty, so every name is 'new').
|
|
|
|
## Fix
|
|
Changed the guard in both functions from `if (rc < 0)` to `if ((rc < 0) && (rc != -ENOENT))`, so only a genuine (non-ENOENT) error short-circuits before the create fallback. Two-line change per function, core.c lines ~341 and ~416. Verified: full scheduler suite 23/23 (up from 22/22 baseline, no regressions), plus the new test's own field-level assertions (users/projects created correctly, priority preserved) now pass.
