The buglog was one 27K-line JSON file whose fields covered only symptom,
root cause and fix, as free text: 2% of entries named the code version a
bug was found on, 12% the build profile, 36% a way to reproduce, and 58% of
the file was OpenWolf hook auto-detections ("Missing guard clause",
"Function not marked async" on .md files).
- .claude/skills/buglog/bug-record.md: the record standard. Eight
sections (Summary as the title, Description, Environment, Reproduction;
Root cause, Fix, Verification, References once fixed), each with the
content it must contain -- e.g. Environment needs the OS, the libc the
failing binary loads (from its ELF interpreter: glibc 2.42 in the nix
shell vs 2.40 on the host), toolchain, build profile and commit.
- .wolf/bugs/<id>.md: 500 records migrated from buglog.json; every field
verified to round-trip. They carry legacy: true and an explicit "not
recorded" where the old log had no such field; component derived from
file paths, severity from keywords (else unknown), fix_commits from
hashes in status_note/fix that git resolves (91 of 463 fixed).
- .wolf/buglog-archive.json: the 710 hook auto-detections, verbatim.
- .wolf/buglog.json is now an index generated from the records, keeping
the fields OpenWolf's hooks and `openwolf bug search` read.
- scripts/buglog.py rewritten: new (template + Environment collected from
the machine and --binary), check, status (refuses a status the record
doesn't support; fixed needs Root cause, Fix, Verification and
--commit hashes git resolves), note, recur, set, show, list, triage,
env, index. 29 unittest cases in scripts/tests/test_buglog.py.
- scripts/git-hooks/pre-commit runs `check --staged`: incomplete staged
records, a legacy record hand-changed to fixed without the fix-time
sections, a new record claiming legacy: true, or a stale index refuse
the commit.
- scripts/gitea-sync.py reads the records: issue body = the record's
sections plus linked fix commits (origin remote, GITEA_COMMIT_REPO to
override), and a body hash so an issue's text is refreshed when the
record changes.
- bug-1866 rewritten to the full standard as the worked example.

bug-1060: After soak test coverage maneuver, ctrl-1 and ctrl-2 enter permanent prevote deadlock: ctrl-1…
Description
After soak test coverage maneuver, ctrl-1 and ctrl-2 enter permanent prevote deadlock: ctrl-1 denies ctrl-2 (freshness: LSN=45 < floor=47), ctrl-2 denies ctrl-1 (log_stale: cand_llt=12 < local_last_log_term=13). Neither can ever win.
Environment
Not recorded (migrated from buglog.json).
Reproduction
Not recorded (migrated from buglog.json).
Root cause
ctrl-3 computed safe_committed_lsn=44 from voter peerLastLogLsn (ctrl-3=47, ctrl-2=44 → majority at 44) and truncated committed entries 45-47 (term=12, acked by ctrl-3 itself as standby under ctrl-1). ctrl-3 then wrote leadership NOP at LSN=45 (term=13) and replicated it to ctrl-2. Result: ctrl-1 has LSN=45=JOB_SUBMIT/term=12, ctrl-2 has LSN=45=NOOP/term=13 — divergent WALs. The safe_committed_lsn formula ignores the candidate's own durable knowledge of committed entries, violating Leader Completeness: the new leader must never truncate entries it has that were committed by a prior leader.
Fix
IMPLEMENTED (2026-06-24): added pure helper ha_promotion_truncate_floor(safe_lsn, durable_tip)=max(safe_lsn,durable_tip) in ha.c/ha.h; raft_cb_become_leader now truncates at max(safe_committed_lsn, persist_durable_floor(&c->persist)) instead of bare safe_committed_lsn. Since the cutoff is never below the leader's own durable tip, persist_truncate_wal_above is a no-op on the leader's durable log — the new leader NEVER truncates entries it holds (Raft §5.4 Leader Completeness). safe_committed_lsn is still the commit lower-bound and promotion-gate HWM (NOT clamped — clamping it would defeat the behind-node fence). The leadership NOP now appends at the true tip (current_lsn) so replication converges peers to the leader's WAL with zero job loss. Unit test test_promotion_never_truncates_own_committed_entries in test_ha_election.c (GREEN). Steering src/controller/CLAUDE.md updated (Leader Completeness section + Post-Election Safe Commit Point + verification checklist). Recovery of an already-diverged cluster still requires restarting the over-truncated node (loses the cut jobs); this fix prevents the divergence.
