The buglog was one 27K-line JSON file whose fields covered only symptom,
root cause and fix, as free text: 2% of entries named the code version a
bug was found on, 12% the build profile, 36% a way to reproduce, and 58% of
the file was OpenWolf hook auto-detections ("Missing guard clause",
"Function not marked async" on .md files).
- .claude/skills/buglog/bug-record.md: the record standard. Eight
sections (Summary as the title, Description, Environment, Reproduction;
Root cause, Fix, Verification, References once fixed), each with the
content it must contain -- e.g. Environment needs the OS, the libc the
failing binary loads (from its ELF interpreter: glibc 2.42 in the nix
shell vs 2.40 on the host), toolchain, build profile and commit.
- .wolf/bugs/<id>.md: 500 records migrated from buglog.json; every field
verified to round-trip. They carry legacy: true and an explicit "not
recorded" where the old log had no such field; component derived from
file paths, severity from keywords (else unknown), fix_commits from
hashes in status_note/fix that git resolves (91 of 463 fixed).
- .wolf/buglog-archive.json: the 710 hook auto-detections, verbatim.
- .wolf/buglog.json is now an index generated from the records, keeping
the fields OpenWolf's hooks and `openwolf bug search` read.
- scripts/buglog.py rewritten: new (template + Environment collected from
the machine and --binary), check, status (refuses a status the record
doesn't support; fixed needs Root cause, Fix, Verification and
--commit hashes git resolves), note, recur, set, show, list, triage,
env, index. 29 unittest cases in scripts/tests/test_buglog.py.
- scripts/git-hooks/pre-commit runs `check --staged`: incomplete staged
records, a legacy record hand-changed to fixed without the fix-time
sections, a new record claiming legacy: true, or a stale index refuse
the commit.
- scripts/gitea-sync.py reads the records: issue body = the record's
sections plus linked fix commits (origin remote, GITEA_COMMIT_REPO to
override), and a body hash so an issue's text is refreshed when the
record changes.
- bug-1866 rewritten to the full standard as the worked example.

Description
NOT A CRASH -- proactive hardening, user-requested, following bug-1831/bug-1832. Nothing in xceadmin's config validation caught a percent-based limit's value being outside the valid 0.0-1.0 fraction range (e.g. 'value: 50, percent: true', meant to express 50% but computing as 5000% of the resource) -- both night_mem_pct in the real src/configs/limits.yaml (bug-1832) and, discovered while adding this validation, an identical stale value in the xceadmin test suite's own checked-in golden fixture (src/xceadmin/tests/fixtures/full/configs/limits.yaml) had this exact defect.
Environment
Not recorded (migrated from buglog.json).
Reproduction
Not recorded (migrated from buglog.json).
Root cause
limits.schema.json's Limit definition had "value": {"type": "number"} with no range constraint at all, and no conditional (if percent then range) constraint existed anywhere in this codebase's 7 bundled JSON schemas -- confirmed no if/then usage exists in any of them prior to this fix.
Fix
FIXED (2026-09-20). Added an if/then JSON Schema (draft 2020-12) conditional constraint to the Limit definition: if percent == true, then value must be a number in [0.0, 1.0]. Empirically verified against the real jsonschema==4.26.0 library this repo uses -- a violation surfaces with the exact same file/json_pointer/constraint contract validate_yaml()'s existing ValidationError already provides (constraint='maximum'/'minimum'), so zero changes were needed to validation.py's own error-reporting code. This is now enforced at real xceadmin config build time (deploy-ha.sh's actual cluster.bin generation path), not merely a unit-test-only check. IMPORTANT BUILD GOTCHA discovered while implementing this: this repo has TWO copies of every bundled JSON schema -- src/configs/schema/*.schema.json (the REAL canonical source) and src/xceadmin/src/xcecommon/schema_files/json/ (a checked-in mirror). meson-build.sh:104 ALWAYS overwrites the xceadmin copy from src/configs/schema/ during any real build (cp "$SRC_DIR/configs/schema/"*.schema.json "$SCHEMA_DST/json/") -- editing ONLY the xceadmin-tree copy is silently discarded on the next build. Both copies were edited to stay in sync. Also fixed the same night_mem_pct value: 50 -> 0.5 defect the new constraint caught in the xceadmin test suite's own checked-in 'full' golden fixture, and regenerated its checked-in expected.bin golden artifact to match (via build.build_cluster_config()). Added 3 new tests to test_validation.py covering: reject out-of-range percent value, accept in-range percent value, and confirm a non-percent value is never range-checked regardless of magnitude.
Verification
