The buglog was one 27K-line JSON file whose fields covered only symptom,
root cause and fix, as free text: 2% of entries named the code version a
bug was found on, 12% the build profile, 36% a way to reproduce, and 58% of
the file was OpenWolf hook auto-detections ("Missing guard clause",
"Function not marked async" on .md files).
- .claude/skills/buglog/bug-record.md: the record standard. Eight
sections (Summary as the title, Description, Environment, Reproduction;
Root cause, Fix, Verification, References once fixed), each with the
content it must contain -- e.g. Environment needs the OS, the libc the
failing binary loads (from its ELF interpreter: glibc 2.42 in the nix
shell vs 2.40 on the host), toolchain, build profile and commit.
- .wolf/bugs/<id>.md: 500 records migrated from buglog.json; every field
verified to round-trip. They carry legacy: true and an explicit "not
recorded" where the old log had no such field; component derived from
file paths, severity from keywords (else unknown), fix_commits from
hashes in status_note/fix that git resolves (91 of 463 fixed).
- .wolf/buglog-archive.json: the 710 hook auto-detections, verbatim.
- .wolf/buglog.json is now an index generated from the records, keeping
the fields OpenWolf's hooks and `openwolf bug search` read.
- scripts/buglog.py rewritten: new (template + Environment collected from
the machine and --binary), check, status (refuses a status the record
doesn't support; fixed needs Root cause, Fix, Verification and
--commit hashes git resolves), note, recur, set, show, list, triage,
env, index. 29 unittest cases in scripts/tests/test_buglog.py.
- scripts/git-hooks/pre-commit runs `check --staged`: incomplete staged
records, a legacy record hand-changed to fixed without the fix-time
sections, a new record claiming legacy: true, or a stale index refuse
the commit.
- scripts/gitea-sync.py reads the records: issue body = the record's
sections plus linked fix commits (origin remote, GITEA_COMMIT_REPO to
override), and a body hash so an issue's text is refreshed when the
record changes.
- bug-1866 rewritten to the full standard as the worked example.

bug-1453: Unnecessary CA certificate plumbing across C daemons and Go CLI — ca_cert_path fields, --ca-cert…
Description
Unnecessary CA certificate plumbing across C daemons and Go CLI — ca_cert_path fields, --ca-cert flags, and CACert config are dead or misleading; TLS verification is SSL_VERIFY_NONE everywhere
Environment
Not recorded (migrated from buglog.json).
Reproduction
Not recorded (migrated from buglog.json).
Root cause
XCE design uses server-side TLS only (encryption without peer certificate verification). The CA cert plumbing was intended for future P3 mTLS hardening but was never implemented: (1) C-side: zero SSL_CTX_load_verify_locations calls in entire codebase — ca_cert_path in xce/cluster.h:35 is set by controller/worker/scheduler but never loaded into any SSL_CTX; do_connect() production path in cluster.c:73 is a NULL-returning stub; (2) Go-side: HTTPS is disabled by default; xcecli uses trust-on-first-use pinning of the server leaf cert (not a CA) stored via a misleadingly-named CACert field; falls back to InsecureSkipVerify:true. Design docs (persistence-and-ha-design.md:1700) explicitly tag peer verification as optional P3 hardening, confirming current encryption-only posture is intentional.
Fix
DONE. C-side: removed ca_cert_path field from xce_cluster_config_t (src/include/xce/cluster.h); do_connect()/xce_connect_fn_t dropped the ca_cert param (src/lib/cluster.c); removed ca_cert_path non-empty check from xce_cluster_config_validate(); removed --ca-cert flag from worker (src/worker/src/main.c) and scheduler (src/scheduler/src/main.c); removed ca_cert_path population from src/controller/main.c:279-281; updated src/lib/testsuite/test_cluster.c mock_connect signature + fixture. Go-side: deleted xcecli/cmd/auth/cert/{cert.go,parser.go} (self-signed cert TOFU-pinning helper); removed CACert field from config.go APIServerInfo and models/logon.go LogonResponse; removed SetRootCAs/loadRootCAs from common/request/request.go and certPath param from Get/Post/DeleteRequestFromAPIServer; updated all ~18 xcecli cmd/* call sites; updated cmd/auth/logon.go to drop the https cert-fetch block; removed TestSetRootCAs_/TestBuildTLSLogic from request_test.go. Verified: full C build (all components, ASAN) 353/353 targets, meson test suite 9/9 OK; xcecli go build/vet/test all PASS; grep -rn 'CACert|SetRootCAs|loadRootCAs|ca_cert' src/ clean (only historical design-doc mentions remain in src/docs/.md, left as-is).
Verification
