The buglog was one 27K-line JSON file whose fields covered only symptom,
root cause and fix, as free text: 2% of entries named the code version a
bug was found on, 12% the build profile, 36% a way to reproduce, and 58% of
the file was OpenWolf hook auto-detections ("Missing guard clause",
"Function not marked async" on .md files).
- .claude/skills/buglog/bug-record.md: the record standard. Eight
sections (Summary as the title, Description, Environment, Reproduction;
Root cause, Fix, Verification, References once fixed), each with the
content it must contain -- e.g. Environment needs the OS, the libc the
failing binary loads (from its ELF interpreter: glibc 2.42 in the nix
shell vs 2.40 on the host), toolchain, build profile and commit.
- .wolf/bugs/<id>.md: 500 records migrated from buglog.json; every field
verified to round-trip. They carry legacy: true and an explicit "not
recorded" where the old log had no such field; component derived from
file paths, severity from keywords (else unknown), fix_commits from
hashes in status_note/fix that git resolves (91 of 463 fixed).
- .wolf/buglog-archive.json: the 710 hook auto-detections, verbatim.
- .wolf/buglog.json is now an index generated from the records, keeping
the fields OpenWolf's hooks and `openwolf bug search` read.
- scripts/buglog.py rewritten: new (template + Environment collected from
the machine and --binary), check, status (refuses a status the record
doesn't support; fixed needs Root cause, Fix, Verification and
--commit hashes git resolves), note, recur, set, show, list, triage,
env, index. 29 unittest cases in scripts/tests/test_buglog.py.
- scripts/git-hooks/pre-commit runs `check --staged`: incomplete staged
records, a legacy record hand-changed to fixed without the fix-time
sections, a new record claiming legacy: true, or a stale index refuse
the commit.
- scripts/gitea-sync.py reads the records: issue body = the record's
sections plus linked fix commits (origin remote, GITEA_COMMIT_REPO to
override), and a body hash so an issue's text is refreshed when the
record changes.
- bug-1866 rewritten to the full standard as the worked example.

bug-1306: 6-round chaotic-failover soak FAIL: committed_job_loss=4 committed_divergence=7 (rounds 4-6)
Description
6-round chaotic-failover soak FAIL: committed_job_loss=4 committed_divergence=7 (rounds 4-6). Committed job 0-0-1782829181-1 permanently absent on reachable primary from round 4 on, across 3 elected primaries; rounds 1-3 clean.
Environment
Not recorded (migrated from buglog.json).
Reproduction
Not recorded (migrated from buglog.json).
Root cause
SHARPENED 2026-06-30 (waldump+log bisect of the 10-round soak): NOT the catch-up prefix-gap/entity-snapshot mechanism. xce_run_hooks (src/lib/hook.c:134-157) returns only the LAST-registered hook's rc (rc overwritten each loop iter; break is BEFORE_EVENT-only). The durable-majority gate works: a term-9 leader's job at LSN 30 timed out commit (peers mid-restart, repl_wait_majority_ack -> commit_submit -> -ETIMEDOUT), persist_job_hook_fun returned -ETIMEDOUT, but a later-registered JOB AFTER_EVENT hook (sched/apiserver) returned 0 and CLOBBERED it -> handle_jobsubmit saw hook_rc==0 -> replied 'jobsubmit ok' for an uncommitted entry -> term-10 leader legally overwrote LSN 30 (term-10 NOOP) -> committed-job-loss. Violates the Commit Durability invariant (reply-success => majority-durable). Evidence: all 3 WALs gapless/CRC-intact/full payloads; lost job only on ctrl-1@LSN30 term9 vs term10 NOOP on majority; ctrl-1 log has the WAIT-deadline-expired WARNs and NO 'rejecting job' line.
Fix
FIXED 2026-06-30 (raft-apply-decoupling item #1 down payment). Extracted the WAL append + majority-commit barrier out of persist_job_hook_fun's WAIT branch into an explicit persist_submit_wal_and_commit(p, jlist); handle_jobsubmit now calls it directly and reads the commit rc DIRECTLY (rejects on <0 before notifying), so the -ETIMEDOUT can no longer be clobbered by a later notify hook's 0 in xce_run_hooks. The JOB_NEW AFTER hook is now notification-only. PROVEN: 10-round chaotic soak committed_job_loss 5 -> 0 (same election code, A/B isolates the durability fix). Unit: +test_job_hook_new_is_notify_only; persist_hooks 19/0, e2e_hooks 3/0, commit_barrier_reply 22/0, commit_durability 38/0. Remaining soak FAIL is committed_divergence (transient catch-up lag, present=2) + a separate round-4 election escalation tail (5.7 class) — neither is job loss.
